Water/Wastewater Master Plan
Wastewater service in Madison County is currently provided through a combination of on-site disposal systems (i.e. septic systems), municipal wastewater utilities, and the Fall Creek Regional Waste District, located in the southern portion of the County. For residents utilizing on-site disposal systems located outside of the established utility service areas, options are limited when on-site disposal systems fail. These systems have a limited life span, and many throughout the County exist in neighborhoods where these life spans have been exceeded and adequate space does not exist to construct a new on-site system.
Similarly, drinking water service in the County is currently provided through a combination of on-site private wells and municipal water utilities. For residents utilizing private wells located outside of the established utility service areas, options are limited when these wells fail. These systems have a limited life span, and many throughout the County exist in neighborhoods where these life spans have been exceeded and adequate space does not exist to construct a new system.
