RESIDENTIAL WORK RELEASE

Residential work release is a high-level supervision program for male and female participants. The work release facility has 116 beds for male participants and 30 beds for female participants. The facility and surrounding property are non-smoking which is strictly enforced. Additionally, the property and participants are under audio and visual surveillance 24 hours a day.

Participants are subject to visually monitored random drug testing. Drug test prices vary and are paid by participants.

A case manager is assigned to each participant in work release. Case managers works with each participant to develop specific case plan goals. Participants must meet with their case manager in person as scheduled by the case manager.

Participants must submit a weekly schedule for every week they are on the program. Schedules must be comprehensive and include all necessary stops participants intend to make. Schedules will not be changed once submitted with the exclusion of doctor appointments and/or to work overtime (overtime MUST be called in by the employer with a four (4) hour advance notice). Schedules are due every Friday no later than noon (12:00 p.m.). If received after the noon hour, sanctions may be imposed or schedules may be restricted.

Participants must submit these documents weekly:

Community Service hours and work verification timecard(s)

Contact Sheet(s)
Pay stub (if paid bi-weekly, must submit bi-weekly)
Any receipts from gas, grocery, bank, etc. stop(s)

Participants are permitted to leave for work, school, programming and treatment, medical attention, and faith-based services. They may earn passes to visit family members or for other special circumstances. Volunteer service hours are accomplished by participants at community service projects throughout Madison County.

Participants and their property entering the work release facility are subject to intensive physical and electronic search, including removal of the clothing they are wearing.

Personal property within the work release facility is controlled for security purposes. Property not approved to be in residential living quarters should be locked in the participant’s motor vehicle. Alternatively, limited amounts of property can be locked in personal lockers located in the work release intake area. We recommend that participants not bring items of significant monetary or sentimental value with them to the facility.

Property approved to be in residential work release living quarters are limited and subject to change based on operational needs and facility security.

Property belonging to participants who leave on a pass and do not return, and participants who escape, will be disposed of in accordance with department policy on abandoned property. Madison County Community Corrections will hold property belonging to participants who are transferred to jail or DOC for no more than 30 days. After that time property will be disposed of in accordance with department policy on abandoned property.

The following items are strictly prohibited from being in residential work release living quarters:

Cigarettes, cigars, pipes, any tobacco or tobacco like product

Any type of fire device
Electronic cigarettes or vaping paraphernalia
Alcoholic beverages or anything containing alcohol
Controlled substances, not including authorized prescribed medications
Clothing with rude or vulgar language

Pornographic material
Personal linens and pillows
Jewelry (except non-threatening items with spiritual significance)
Watch (except Smart watches or other time keeping devices that are a security threat)
Electronic equipment not purchased through the facility commissary (MP3, iPods, PDA’s CD/DVD, recording devices (audio/video), computers, disks, computer software, non-battery-operated games)

Any physical money (cash, change, etc.)
Cell phones and pagers
Food or drink items not provided by the facility or purchased through facility vending or commissary
Laundry/hygiene supplies not provided by the facility or purchased through facility vending or commissary
Anything that could appear to be or could be used as a weapon, or ammunition

Liquid bleach or any hazardous chemicals (acids, corrosives agents, or caustic materials).
Unauthorized items are contraband and will be confiscated and not returned to participants.

Outgoing mail will be collected daily and given to the postal carrier. Staff is not permitted to personally deliver mail for any participant. Participants are not permitted to mail anything to an inmate/participant of another correctional facility, unless approved by the warden or director of that facility and the participants case manager.

Costs for medical treatment while a participant of work release are paid by participants. Case managers may assist participants enroll in private medical insurance programs.

Work Release Fees:

Initial one-time intake fee of $65.00

Monthly user fee $25.00

Daily residence fee of $13.57 a day or $95.00 per week
