Auditor’s Office
The Auditor is the Chief Financial Officer of the County and is defined under Indiana Code 36-2-9-2.
The Auditor is responsible for handling all receipts and disbursements of county funds, creating financial statements, completing annual reports and processing payroll for approximately 700 county employees.
This office handles transfers of ownership of real property, maintains property boundaries information on the County GIS system, and calculates property taxes for all real, personal, mobile homes and special assessments.Â
After tax collections by the Treasurer, the Auditor distributes them to all the government units and agencies within Madison County.
The Auditor serves as Secretary to the Commissioners and the County Council, maintains all budgets, salary ordinances, additional appropriations, transfers, abatement applications, property deductions and tax sale proceedings.
